What is valid for Advent 2021 in Merano?

Since December 6, 2021, Merano, as in all of Italy, in addition to the Greenpass, the newly introduced SuperGreenPass is valid for all persons over 12 years.
Between these two passports there are crucial differences, after questions about this, but also about the use of the Greenpass come up again and again, you will find the decisive features and conditions listed here.

Super Green Pass

This stands for the 2G Pass. The Super Green Pass is only available to those who have been vaccinated or have recovered. To be eligible for the Super Green Pass, a complete vaccination cycle must have been completed in the last 9 months. In addition, the Super Green Pass is granted to all persons who have recovered in the last 6 months. So, if you have an EU Green Passport confirming 2 vaccinations OR a medical certificate confirming recovery in the last 6 months, you are automatically considered a Super Green Passport holder.

The Super Green Pass currently guarantees you access to the interiors of bars and restaurants as well as all accommodation establishments. In addition, this pass allows you to attend parties, celebrations and ceremonies and to visit cinemas, fitness centers, events, sporting events and discos.

Thus, this Advent 2021, the SuperGreenPass is considered a persilschein for your vacation in Merano: you can simply experience everything that is offered at events (such as the Christmas Market), you can sit in any bar and restaurant and move freely everywhere else.

Green Pass

This stands for the 3G Pass. To be considered the owner of the Green Pass, you need a PCR test with a negative result (not older than 72 hours) or an antigen test, which is not older than 48 hours. If your antigen test expires during your stay, you can "free test" yourself again in the pharmacies in Merano & surroundings. With the Green Pass you can check in at any hotel in Merano and take part in the in-house catering (breakfast, lunch and dinner). You can use the lifts and slopes in the ski resorts, visit museums, congresses and thermal baths. You can visit the Merano Christmas Market, as well as the Merano Thermal Baths. Visits to pubs, bars and restaurants are currently prohibited for holders of this type of Green Pass.

This includes stores, bars, restaurants, hotel lobbies...etc. The mask requirement also applies outdoors, where the minimum distance from other people cannot be maintained.  Children under the age of six are excluded from the mask requirement.

In urban and extra-urban public transport, such as buses and trains, the obligation to wear FFP2 masks applies from the age of 12.
