Passeier Valley

Do you like hiking? The Val Passiria offers you countless hiking routes of all kinds, for example in the Hirzer hiking area, starting with the Hirzer cable car in Saltaus. In the nature park of the Texelgruppe are the famous Spronser lakes, experienced hikers are drawn here with enthusiasm.

Winter vacation in the Passeier Valley: While in the front Passeier Valley most businesses close for a short winter break after New Year's Day at the latest, in the Hinterpasseier Valley the winter season is just beginning. The snow-sure Plams ski area and the Ratschings-Jaufen ski area are popular destinations for skiers, snowboarders, tobogganers, ice skaters and snowshoe hikers. The ski season starts in snowy winters already at the end of November and goes until Easter. Plan is very popular with families due to its manageable size and reasonably priced facilities. Rustic huts serve delicious and hearty dishes. It is not uncommon to work with local producers. So if you want to escape the gentrified hustle and bustle, this is the place for you. Somewhat larger is the modern and also snow-sure skiing area Ratschings-Jaufen. The 25 kilometers of slopes, ranging from easy to moderately difficult, are always excellently groomed. As for all areas, there are also awards for ski resorts. According to the "Skiareatest", Ratschings-Jaufen can count itself as the climber of the year.

Those seeking peace and quiet and nature-loving snowshoe hikers are also in good hands in the Val Passiria away from the two ski areas. For example, in the small village of Stuls in the Passeier Valley, which is unknown to tourists. Unspoiled nature as far as the eye can see and plenty of fresh air guarantee relaxation for body and soul.

The Passeir museums as a bad weather program? Not at all! Families should definitely include the Schneeberg Adventure Mine at 2,355 m, a huge open-air museum in an incomparable high-mountain landscape. It is only accessible on foot, but the (go lazy) offspring can be wonderfully coaxed with an upcoming adventure tour through the mining area with tunnel ride. Other museums we recommend are the Andreas Hofer Museum in St. Leonhard, which presents the story of the courageous freedom fighter Andreas Hofer in his birthplace, and the Bunker Museum in Moso in the Passeier Valley.

5 things that you must experience during your vacation in Val Passiria:

  • A Tarzaning Tour with adventurous climbing, abseiling, long jumps, flying fox and even more - and all this in a wonderfully natural environment!
  • An unforgettable hike, for example to the Timmels-Schwarzsee. This high mountain hike is a real treat in the hot midsummer. Often in August you can still find the remnants of winter: enough snow for an extensive snowball fight! Attention: for this hike you should have a good physical condition and be quite athletic. You must not forget a sunscreen with a high sun protection factor!
  • Enjoy an extensive "day spa wellness day" in one of the great wellness hotels in the Val Passiria and take advantage of the offered activity program with yoga, Zumba, Qi Gong, etc., because this is usually included in the day spa price.
  • Take a bike tour, either on your own along the Passer on the wonderful bike path Passeier-Meran or with a local bike guide.
  • Visit the adventure mine Schneeberg. You will see, the history of mining is really interesting!
