Provincial Museum Castle Tyrol

Not to be missed if you are in Tirolo
From here, the land of Tyrol was ruled for a very long time in the Middle Ages - so it is obvious that this magnificent castle in an equally magnificent location houses the Provincial Museum of Archaeology!
If you want to visit the Provincial Museum of Cultural and Regional History at Castle Tyrol, you should plan plenty of time! Even the arrival is worth experiencing: It goes on foot through Tirolo village, from where a picturesquely situated walkway winds along the slope to Tyrol Castle. Past vines and through a tunnel carved into the rock you still have to cross the "Köstengraben", from there it goes up to the castle.

Impressions

The Provincial Museum offers unique exhibits from all over South Tyrol, which date from the Stone Age to modern times. The historic walls of Castle Tyrol with its modern museum facilities offer an ideal ambience for this, one wanders in wonder through the entire castle from the majestic knights' hall up to the keep. The view of Tirolo and the Meran valley basin from the many windows is worth seeing!
