The green villa district of Merano
The best way to explore Maia Alta is along the Sissi path, which leads from the town to Trauttmansdorff Castle.
When you walk through Maia Alta, it may well happen that you think that time has stood still here. Most of the buildings date back to the 18th and 19th century and are well preserved, also due to strict rules of ensemble protection. The same applies to the parks belonging to the houses. Not infrequently, their over 100-year-old trees line the streets and alleys in Merano.
