Wineries in Merano

A brief panoramic view of the vine-covered slopes around the spa town of Merano is enough for the connoisseur to immediately guess one thing: Magnificent wines must grow here.
And that's exactly how it is! Spoiled by the sun (Merano has an average of 300 sunny days a year), the Merano wines get their unmistakably warm, intense note and their fresh, fruity aromas thanks to the mineral soils, hot summer days and cool autumn nights.

Here you will find four winemakers who, with diligence and passion, create their very own wines, from the cultivation of the vines to the aging in the heavy barrique barrels of their cellars. And their estates: each different, but beautifully located and blessed with abundant views. Each of the winemakers listed here looks forward to your visit to explain their wines and, if time permits, also to give you an interesting insight into the farm and cellar.
1

Plonerhof Winery

ploner 1024x683
It is only a 5-minute drive from Merano to Marlengo. Here, in the midst of its own vineyards, lies the Plonerhof winery, directly on the slopes below the NMinte Tramontana. In the farm's own tasting room, which also offers a magnificent view of Merano, you can taste and purchase Sauvignon, Riesling and Pinot Noir in several variations. Every Thursday there is a vineyard tour with cellar guidance and subsequent wine tasting!

Innerleiterhof Winery

Svena above Merano
Innerleiter 2 864x576
Sun-drenched slopes characterize the area below the landmark of Scena, the Mausoleum. And in the midst of this landscape lies the Innerleiterhof winery. Only a few minutes by car from the center of Merano, where the steep access road ends and the vineyard begins. In addition to the small hotel business, there is here since 2011 an equally small, but top modern winery, in which the grapes that grow directly around the farm are cellared.
Every Thursday from 16:30 cellar tour and tasting in the modern, Mediterranean tasting room with direct view of the barrique cellar.

Plars Castle Winery

single_air_schlossplars 864x485
The only winery in Lagundo, the winery Schloss Plars is located above Lagundo, in the district of the same name (Mitterplars) and can also be reached in a few minutes by car.
Here you will meet Andreas Theiner, a friendly, young winemaker, who idealistically and with a lot of creativity grows his wines directly around the castle and cellars them in the ancient cellars, which testify to the (wine) history of the house. On Tuesdays you can join a wine walk in the surrounding area followed by a cellar tour and tasting. (On request).

Von Braunbach

Settequerce
braunbach 864x576
Admittedly, the sparkling wine cellar Von Braunbach is located a bit outside, Settequerce is about 25 minutes by car from Merano. But there you can enjoy soft warm red wines, a fruity Sauvignon, but especially the fresh cool Brut "Von Braunbach" in the open air, under the spreading branches of the old walnut trees. This South Tyrolean sparkling wine is served here by the young and courteous cellar master Hannes Kleon himself, but not before he has stored his best drop but 36 months on fine yeast and finally with much love according to old tradition daily shaken by hand!
On request (also at short notice on site) Hanns Kleon leads his guests with pleasure briefly into the several hundred years old cellar vaults within the Ordenshauses, which accommodates cellar and Vinothek.
