Malga Naturno Hut

The Malga Naturno Hut (1,922m) is geographically located in the lower Vinschgau Valley, but belongs to Lagundo, being in the hamlet of Riolagundo.
This area, which is popular with hikers and bikers alike, stretches from Riolagundo up to San Vigilio and can be easily reached with the Rabland-Aschbach panorama cable car. The best way to reach the Malga Naturno Hut is with the help of the cable car. The valley station of the cable car is only a few minutes away from Lagundo by car or public transport and quickly brings you to a lofty 1362 meters above sea level. From there the trail leads through the romantic hamlet of Riolagundo in a westerly direction, the entire route is well signposted.
For 600 meters in altitude, a magnificent hiking trail with a constant but pleasant gradient leads through the cool forest. Again and again, large clearings provide a view of the Vinschgau Valley, the Schnals Valley opposite and the peaks of the Ötztal Alps.

After about 1.5 hours of pleasant hiking, a last ascent awaits you, which at the same time overcomes the tree line. The two alpine pasture buildings now duck deep into the open terrain, which offers a fabulous view of the surroundings.
Now you have to find a free place on the large terrace of the much frequented Naturnser Alm to reward yourself for the ascent with a cool beer and specialties from the kitchen.

Imnpressions

The ideal way back from the Malga Naturno Hut to Riolagundo is not via the ascent route, but via the romantic Sab Vigilio Mountain. This variant costs you only a little more effort, because you have almost already reached the required altitude. Instead, it goes along romantic paths to the famous church, from where a well-signposted path takes you directly back to the cable car.
